Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 26, 2026
This policy explains what DesignCode Inc. (“Tan.app,” “we,” “us”) collects, why we collect it, and what we do and do not do with it. It covers the Tan.app website, the booking and sign-up pages we host for salons, and the text messages and emails we send on a salon’s behalf.
1. Who we are
Tan.app is a software platform operated by DesignCode Inc. Tanning salons and similar businesses use it to take bookings, collect forms and waivers, manage memberships, and send appointment and marketing messages to their own customers.
When you give your details to a salon through a Tan.app page, that salon decides what it does with them. We process that information on the salon’s behalf and under this policy.
2. What we collect
Information you give us. Your name, mobile phone number, and email address when you sign up for an offer, book a visit, or sign a form. If you buy something, our payment processor collects your payment details directly; we never see or store your full card number.
Information about your visit. The salon and location you signed up with, the page or QR code you came from, the date and time, your IP address, and your browser’s user-agent string. We keep the IP address and user agent with your consent record because they are part of proving when and how you agreed to be contacted.
Message activity. Whether a message was sent, delivered, or failed, and whether you replied STOP or HELP.
3. Text messaging, and what we never do with your number
We do not sell, rent, or share mobile phone numbers, or the fact that you consented to text messages, with any third party or affiliate for their own marketing purposes. Full stop. Your number is used only to send you the messages from the salon you gave it to. This applies to every category of information in this policy, and it applies to text-message consent specifically: consent is never shared, sold, or transferred to anyone else.
The only parties who ever touch your number are the vendors that make the message arrive — our messaging carrier and our email provider — and they may use it solely to deliver that message for us. They may not use it for anything of their own.
Message frequency varies. A typical free-tan sign-up receives up to 5 messages over 14 days. Salons may send occasional offers after that. Frequency depends on the salon and on what you signed up for.
Message and data rates may apply. Your mobile carrier may charge you for messages you send and receive, according to your own plan.
Stopping messages. Reply STOP to any text to stop them. Reply HELP for help. You can also use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any email. Opting out of texts does not opt you out of email, and the other way round — each is separate, and each is honoured on its own.
Full messaging terms are on our Messaging Terms page.
4. Why we use it
To send you the offer or booking you asked for; to send the follow-up messages you consented to; to let salon staff recognise you at the counter and honour your claim; to keep a record of your consent; to keep the service secure and working; and to meet our legal obligations.
We do not use your information to build advertising profiles, and we do not sell it.
5. Who we share it with
The salon you gave it to. They see your name, contact details, and whether you used your offer.
Vendors who run the service for us. Hosting, database hosting, message and email delivery, and payment processing. Each is bound to use the information only to provide that service to us.
Where the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of people using the service.
That is the whole list. We do not share your information with data brokers, advertisers, or anyone else for their own purposes — and, as section 3 says, mobile numbers and SMS consent are never shared at all.
6. How long we keep it
We keep your details for as long as the salon has a relationship with you, and we keep consent and opt-out records for as long as we need them to show we honoured your choices. If you opt out, we keep the minimum needed to make sure we keep not messaging you.
7. Your choices
You can stop messages at any time as described in section 3. You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email privacy@tan.app and we will respond. Where a salon controls the information, we will pass your request to them and help them act on it.
8. Security
Information travels over encrypted connections and is stored on access-controlled infrastructure. Passwords are hashed. Claim links and sign-in links use tokens that are stored hashed, not in the clear. No system is perfect, but we do not treat this as somebody else’s problem.
9. Children
The service is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. Salons may set their own higher age requirements for their services.
10. Changes
We may update this policy. If we make a material change we will change the date at the top and, where it affects messaging, tell you in the service. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
